Most Common Halloween Injuries
Halloween injuries are not something many think about until they happen. Whether you are at home giving out candy, at a party, or trick or treating with your children, injuries and accidents can happen. Halloween is a fun for many, but can quickly turn dangerous due to negligence or accidents.
Here are some of the most common Halloween accidents.
Slip and Fall
This also includes tripping. These falls can cause serious harm and injuries. Slip and fall accidents are likely to occur on Halloween due to poor lighting. Decorations and crowds increase the likelihood of a slip and fall on Halloween.
Many drivers are cautious on Halloween, but October 31 is the deadliest day of the year for children and pedestrian accidents. Pedestrians can protect themselves by looking for oncoming vehicles, but careless drivers are an extreme risk to pedestrians (especially children) and can cause major and deadly injuries.
While this is a common issue and cause for accidents daily, distracted driving can be even more of an issue on Halloween. Looking at decorations, watching for pedestrians, checking a GPS, using a cellphone, etc., can all cause a driver to become distracted.
Even more serious is driving drunk. Unfortunately, this is a major problem on Halloween which sees a higher-than-usual number of deaths from drunk driving accidents.
There is no excuse or reason to drive drunk. If you drive drunk, you can be liable for any accidents or deaths that occur due to your actions. A DUI is not worth it.
Movie theaters, haunted houses, bars, and nightclubs are just some of the businesses open to celebrate Halloween and must provide security and safety measures to protect patrons. Lack of security and negligence on the part of these businesses are a major cause of injuries on Halloween.
